In My Feelings

I know it’s a new year and I’m supposed to be all introspective and sappy.

But the truth is, I’ve never been into New Years much. Sometimes it feels like the new year starts more in Feb, or June. I’ve always kind of based my life around summer as it’s my favorite month so honestly, Jan wasn’t ever much to me.

But I’m looking back and I can fully say that 208 was a surprise in every way. Not going to California for university, continuing youtube, changing my whole career AND academic path. With it came a lot of stress but I also feel like an old granny compared to Jan 2018 me. So much wiser, kinder, chiller. Maybe not quite a glo up but CLOSE. 😹

ALSO, after getting 3 hrs of sleep because I stayed up all night at my church’s NYE party, my CFI Steve who helped me get my PPL texted if I wanted to fly his J3!! I’ve only flown it once :)

OF COURSE, just like when I said yes to flying helicopter, I agreed quickly!!!

And what was awesome was I did really well, I’m very happy with my performance and Steve was excited. It felt great!

How To Strt a J3 (well, my instructors anyway)

  1. Prime 3 times because of the cold weather.

  2. Mags to BOTH.

  3. Engine button ON (it should start with a hop!)(not really, more of a rumble haha)

  4. Alt switch ON.

The sky was clear, bright, and felt nothing like January. Or 209 haha. I went home super satisfied and took a fat nap. I had been worried about loss of my skills due to not flying since mid November. I know it’s bad, but between the colder weather, rain (although not much compared to last year!) and low funds, not working now..and school, I haven’t flown as much as prescribed. Ideally, I was trying to go at least 1-2 a month! So, from Nov 6th or so to Jan 1st, I flew better. I think a alarge part of that is because I REALLY wanted to fly. I mean you might be thinking “ok duh don’t you always want to??” But sometimes I’m really tired or reluctant because it’s hard brain work and I give Steve my 80-90%, not my 110%. But today was not like that at all!

Great start to 2019!! 🤘👀

Flight time: 2.4

Landings: 10

Take offs: 8-10

Weather: no wind, calm, bright, cool, sunny!

Airports: Lendhardts, Sandy, & Steve’s Private grass strip!
